This is a graphical representation of the channels and disciplines available to the modern, self-taught marketer.  Pretty interesting, right?  It was developed by a very smart guy named Oli Gardner as a way to help small businesses build effective marketing programs.  It definitely (sometimes) works.  It is also pretty overwhelming.  According to Oli, a beginner can master this program in 6 months.  Time to get to work, right?

 

 

Here is a simple truth

Most of the tools a small business needs to create, test and deploy effective marketing programs are available for free or close to free on the internet.  If you follow our blog or Twitter feed, you'll see that we make no secret of this. In fact, we embrace it. 

 

The problem small businesses face isn't so much about figuring out how to open a MailChimp account. Or trouble-shooting the Google AdWords account.  Or even choosing between Unbounce or Optimizely

 

The problem is actually more basic.   When all of the marketing pixie-dust is now out in the open, how are small businesses supposed to figure out what to do - and more importantly - what not to do?  That's where we fit in.
